Ultimate Maps Downloader allows you to download satellite imagery, topographic, and road maps from various map servers. Downloaded small tiles are saved on the disk and then combined in one big map image for offline use. You can also create ESRI World File (JGW, TFW) for all downloaded tiles and images for use in professional mapping software like Global Mapper and ER Mapper.

As far as I know, this is the best software on the Internet for map view and download. There is a nice GUI; you can download maps from most of the map servers including Google, Bing, Yahoo and Open Street maps, compare maps side by side and save projects, etc. There is also basic support for Foursquare, markers and POIs, routes and relocations. Downloaded maps can be easily used on iPhone and Android GPS enabled apps (I%u2019ve tried them on Maverick and OSM for Android).Definitely recommend for everyone interested in offline mapping.
